I was listening to the radio a while ago and this song came on:
I'm not a huge fan of the song, but I like it. But I have beef with people who are offended by the line "just prayed to a god that I don't believe in". The radio awkwardly splices another line over it and I heard another version where the girl changed the line to "just prayed to a god that I DO believe in".
Really?
Admittedly, I was a little wary of the line at first - wouldn't it be a little blasphemous to say that? Like you pray but don't really think God exists?
But then I thought about it. I do believe God (capital G) exists. But there are other gods (little g) that I don't believe in. Examples?
And to be honest, I might be inclined to pray to someone like Venus if I thought it'd help me at all.
Basically I think that it's totally bogus for people to get all funny about that particular song lyric.

Choices
When I was in elementary school, I remember I had a homework assignment that asked if I could be a piece of candy, which one would I be and why. I chose to be a black jelly bean.
Why?
Because no one would ever want to eat me and so I would live forever.

Still alive!
Spring term. Is. Finally. OVER.
And I didn't even fail any of my finals. Take that, ochem! Go me.
BUT. My life is still hectic. Which is why this post is short.
Also, if you are in/near the Provo area, I'm having a going-away-party on Saturday. You should come.
That is all.

There's such a thing as "Flag Day"?
I took a break from my studying today (it's a reading day - finals start tomorrow) and went down to the Creamery to pick up some canned food for a drive a girl in my ward is doing. As I was driving up Stadium Ave, I noticed that every single house had a big American flag on a pole stuck in the middle of the front yard. I supposed someone must have gotten them all and volunteered to stick them in each yard since they were all essentially identical. It wasn't until I drove down the street coming back home that I realized that today is Flag Day.
And you know what? Seeing the American flag in everyone's front yard - I LOVED IT. I love America! It's the best country ever! Yeah we've got issues, but so does every other country and usually their problems are worse than ours. I mean, when disaster strikes, who demands that Russia or Germany or England do something about it to help them? No one! But America always catches slack for "slow response time" or "why hasn't the president done anything for that other country yet?" Isn't that awesome? America is awesome. I love it.
My parents always have an American flag out on the front porch. I wish I had one here in Provo. I hope the people on Stadium Ave don't ever take down the American flags in their front yards.
God bless America. Land that I love.

Must be a guy thing
So for the past two weeks or so I've been kinda boogery. It started with a sore throat and then progressed to congestion and now I'm in a convalescent-ish period where I have an occasional lung-rattling cough that usually isn't productive. So yesterday I went to the store and bought some medicine that I hoped would help me clear out the yuckies from my respiratory tract. I bought Mucinex, which is an expectorant. I don't know how effective it was at clearing me up, but it was EXTREMELY effective in getting the following lyric stuck in my head (guess the movie):
"I'm especially good at expectorating - ptooey!"
Consequently, fragments of the entire song keep flitting about my brain, interspersed with thoughts like "Gaston isn't a hard name to spell. I wonder if Gaston's little friend even knows how to spell his own name." (His name is Lefou, by the way)
I wonder if there's such a thing as a musical brain expectorant.
(The line is at 1:50)
